"South 70 began with a vision of great songs and talented musicians who wanted to be a part of a team. Simone met Geoff, started the process of writing songs together, and just clicked on a musical and personal level. Over the past four years we've gone through a couple of line-up changes, which opened up the road for finding our current and incredible mix of talent and chemistry. South 70 is Simone Simonton (drums), Geoff Reid (male lead vocal, guitar), Hope Sonam (female lead vocal), James Cromer (bass, keyboard, backing vocal) and James "JD" Davis (lead guitar).
We're unique in the fact that we have two lead singers, a female drummer, songs that are written to be shared and told from female and male perspectives, songs that meld the grit of a country dirt road with the bright lights of the city and most importantly, we're a BAND. The contribution of each member makes us South 70. The name of our band comes from a highway here in Atlanta that runs from the urban downtown area to a rural setting with old barns, pastures and dirt roads. South 70's music connects both of those cultures.

We love creating, playing and performing. We're going for the big dream- the dream of entertaining thousands of people every night, sharing our music, inspiring people and doing that for as long as we have the honor."

South 70 is a country rock band from Atlanta, GA. Drummer and Songwriter, Simone Simonton, moved from the corn fields and dirt roads of Southern Illinois to Atlanta to pursue her passion for music. Simonton was one of the founding members of Atlanta-based Sugarland, co-writing the songs "Baby Girl" and "Down In Mississippi", among others. Simone was introduced to and immediately connected with songwriter, singer and guitarist Geoff Reid, and the foundation of South 70 was formed. South 70's bassist and backing vocalist, James Cromer, moved from South Carolina to Atlanta to join the band in 2007, followed by Georgia native James "JD" Davis on lead guitar. In the summer of 2010, Hope Sonam joined the South 70 family as a contributing songwriter and female lead vocalist. South 70 is currently in the studio with producer Mark Bryan, guitarist for Hootie and the Blowfish, at his studio in Charleston, SC. This project includes six original songs and debuts new material never recorded by the band. Songs will be mixed by GRAMMY award-winning producer and engineer Chad Carlson and will be released to fans this fall.
